O.K. I know this blog thing is mostly for the family, but I just have to complain. I am so irritated by the Bath and Body Works new ad campaign. I went in just before Mothers Day when several fathers and sons were shopping. There are huge life size posters of completely naked (practically anorexic) women hanging at every turn. Now, I appreciate the female form - it is actually quite lovely. When you have a teenage son, however, things just change. I wanted to cover the eyes. Doesn't Bath and Body Works realize that their market is 30-50 year old women that are concerned about hand sanitizer and dry scaly skin? I would have gone into Victoria Secret without the kids if I wanted to be swayed by the ad campaign of naked anorexic women. This is exactly what I told the 50 year old wrinkled lady working behind the counter too. Her reply, "I completely understand. I have to look at it for 8 hours at a time. Did you know that Bath and Body Works is owned by Victoria Secret?" Well I think they hung their posters in the wrong store!!!

Perry's first dance - it is quite unbelievable. Thanks to her best cousin Brooke, she had someone fun to go with. Thanks to her big brother, Davin, she had someone nice to dance her first dance with.

My baby girl is 14. She has been the kind of daughter you dream of. From the minute I met her, she was calm, curious, observant. She had huge blue eyes that were too big for her baby face. She didn't come with a cry - she only knew how to complain with a grunt or a groan. She wasn't worried even then. Perry, I am awed by your grace and intelligence, by your strength and gentleness, by your beauty and humility, but especially by your virtue!

"Come on Mom, just tell me." "Tell you what?" "You know, just tell me." "I'm sorry Brody, I don't understand what you're saying. Do you mean you have something to tell me?" "Oh all right, (whispers in my ear) you want to snuggle with me don't you!" This from the kid that thinks it's ok to pee in the back yard "cuz Nash does", cut hair off the Polly Pocket "cuz I wanted to see what she looked like without it", ate Davin's protein bar leaving chocolate smears on the wall, "it's ok mom cuz it makes you grow, and I ate it on the tile". It's exhausting er wait I meant to say amazing :)! I love this kid especially cuz he knows how to snuggle.

KELLEN TREY GUINN
6 months old
Kellen - Irish meaning strong
Trey - English meaning third born son
My strong third born son, you have brought me immeasurable joy when I thought there was no more to be had by motherhood. You have softened the hearts of many with your cherubic glow. Your siblings know more generosity and love because of your ready smile. You have calmed a teenage soul in the waves of challenge he calls life. You have stopped the craziness I call life with your demands for love and the gift it gives back. We are so much better for having had you join our family ... in only six months you have changed the world. Ours.

It has been craziness here the last couple weeks. It's always craziness, but this week and next the daddy is not around to help. I have been wanting someone to update this thing we are counting as our family journal, but there were no takers.

We had an amazing experience on the USS Midway in San Diego. We got a personal tour from our very own Navy pilot veteran, Grampy Bear. It was so meaningful to be with the person who made the sacrifice for our country. Grampy bear was humble, but my heart was filled with pride. Grampy bear was on the USS Ticonderoga, and we are so happy that he came home safe to spend the rest of this life with us. Thanks so much!!!!!!
